Five club members and their spouses/significant others will be attending the 108th Rotary International Convention being held in Atlanta, GA from June 10 - 14, in addition to the June 9 & 10 Rotary Presidential Peace Conference.  All convention activities will take place at the Georgia World Congress Center which is expected to welcome approximately 40,000 Rotarians from around the world.
 
Convention general session keynote/featured speakers include -
  • Rajashree Birla - Chair, Aditya Birla Centre for Community Initiatives & Rural Development (Sunday, June 11)
  • Bill Gates - Co-Chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation & End Polio Now Partner (Monday, June 12)
  • Johann Olav Koss - Founder, Right to Play International (Tuesday, June 13)
  • James Quincey - President & COO, The Coca-Cola Company  (Tuesday, June 13)
  • Jack Nicklaus - Golf Icon & End Polio Now Ambassador (Tuesday, June 13)
  • Kalyan Banerjee - Rotary Foundation Trustee Chair (Wednesday, June 14)
16/17 Rotary International President John F. Germ will give the welcome address at the Sunday, June 11th opening ceremony.
 
Convention activities include educational breakout sessions, entertainment and fellowship activities. The always popular House of Friendship features a celebration of American Southern culture, highlighting food, music, handicrafts and art in addition to Rotary related vendor booths and networking and service opportunities for convention attendees. 
 
One of many convention highlights includes celebrating the 100th anniversary of The Rotary Foundation founded by Arch Klumph whose idea for an endowment fund dedicated to “doing good in the world” planted the seed of The Rotary Foundation in 1917. Thanks to Klumph's vision and staunch advocacy, and the extraordinary generosity of Rotary members worldwide, that fund has become one of the world’s leading humanitarian foundations.
