Schaumburg AM Rotary Club members proudly supported children living in foster care with their donation of 20 comfort cases filled with basic need and personal care items such as new blankets, books, pajamas and toiletries to the “Let It Be Us” non-profit organization dedicated to the adoption and education of children within the Illinois foster care system.

Susan McConnell, founder and executive director of the Barrington, IL based Let It Be Us, accepted our donation during a recent club meeting when she and a colleague were our featured keynote speakers.

There are approximately 400,000 children living in foster care in the United States.  Approximately 18,000 are in Illinois Foster Care and of those more than 3,000 children are currently eligible for legal adoption. Let it Be Us envisions a future in which our most vulnerable children have the opportunities and resources they need, which can best be met by belonging in a family.

What a great feeling it is to give back and support foster care children who are seeking a safe, secure and nurturing home.  Thank you to all who participated in this worthy service project. #ServiceAboveSelf
