Schaumburg A.M. Rotary joined a large group of community businesses and organizations in supporting the Schaumburg Police Department's December 10th "Shop with a Cop" holiday event that benefited 26 local children with financial or social needs.

The children were selected with the assistance of the village's officers, Social Services and area school social workers.

The day started with officers and the children meeting at the police department to board buses. They then traveled to the Target store on Barrington Road so the children could shop for their families as well as purchase items for themselves. Each child was given a $150 Target gift card provided by the generous donations from several local businesses.

After they finished shopping, the children were taken to the Marriott on Martingale Road for a special holiday breakfast. Volunteers were standing by to help wrap gifts with the children. A fun morning continued with games and special meet and greets from Santa, Mrs. Claus, McGruff the Crime Dog and even Olaf from the movie Frozen.

The event was made possible through partnerships with Target, the Schaumburg Park District and the Marriott Schaumburg. Nearly 40 area businesses provided donations so the children had the opportunity to shop. Numerous volunteers, including Schaumburg officers and civilian police department employees, were all on hand to help make this event a success.
