Schaumburg AM Rotary was in the house during Winston Churchill Elementary School’s April 26th Family Celebration of Reading & Writing Night.

Our own Lori Corrigan was one of several guest readers at this annual event that also featured a book fair, student artwork, poetry, a puppet show, and Churchill chorus students performing mini readings and songs from “Seussical, The Musical.”

Rotarians supported this activity by donating funds to the school that were used to buy writing journals and books awarded to Churchill students who participated in the celebration’s book walk activity.  These materials will be utilized to improve student reading, writing, thinking and learning skills.

Churchill School, located in Schaumburg, celebrates its 50th Anniversary this year having opened in 1956 as a 12 classroom facility.  Today the school serves approximately 480 students in 26 classrooms.
