ROTARY NIGHT WITH FLYERS

Rotary Night 2010 - August 11
Approximately 800 tickets were donated to children and families who couldn’t otherwise afford to go to the game. The Flyers put on an outstanding show, with Alain Quijano throwing a one-hitter. Fans had a great time and enjoyed experiences including throwing out the first pitch, standing on the field with a “Player Buddy”, participating in games such as “Sumo Races”, the “Price is Right” “Dizzy Bat Race” among others and all in front of a hometown crowd. Many life-long memories were made.
Children and adults afflicted by serious illnesses attended the game, along with their friends, families and caregivers. Many poeple with and without disabilities were given a chance to forget about their worries; people who knew little to nothing about Rotary.
Efforts to eradicate the dreaded Polio disease were brought to the forefront. Rotarians from at least 13 clubs in District 6440 participated, had fun with old friends, and even made some new friends.
Some comments from the community -
“I just wanted to thank you and your Rotary club for the tickets for last night’s Flyers game. I gave out all 100 tickets and so far the people I talked to had a great time. Thank you so much for all you do for KYC and the community.” Sincerely, Cheri Seley Resource Development Manager Kenneth Young
“What a great event the Rotary Night was again this year. Our clients and staff really enjoyed the night. This is a special treat for them. Plus the clients that went on the field are telling everyone about it and showing off their pennants or baseballs they received. Thanks again for giving our clients and staff a special night.” Paul Jochim, Clearbrook.

Rotary Night 2009 - July 30
As you may know, charities throughout the United States are having a hard time raising funds. Since the economy has slowed, contributions are down over 33 percent and charitable programs are in trouble. The long-standing principle: "We are judged by the way we treat those who are least able to take care of themselves" could not be more true than it is today.
We at Schaumburg A.M. Rotary are doing something about it. On July 30, we teamed up with the Schaumburg Flyers for a night at Alexian Field to raise funds for the many local charities. Schaumburg Village President Al Larson proclaimed July 30 "Schaumburg A.M. Rotary night at Alexian Field". One hundred percent of the profits will go to area, local and national charities. We have for nearly 20 years contributed to organizations such as Schaumburg Township Food Pantry, Children's Home & Aid Society, Clearbrook and Alfred Campanelli YMCA among others. In addition, we received donations that enabled 800 needy young people from Children's Home & Aid, Kenneth Young, Clearbrook and Alfred Campanelli YMCA to attend the game as our special guests.

Our work is not done; our goal is to raise $50,000 in contributions to help our charities meet their budget short falls. Rotary Night with the Flyers raised $7500 for Rotary donations. There were approximately 150 Rotarians from the area in attendance. The Dundee Club brought 40 children from the Boys and Girls Club in addition to the 800 children and young adults we sponsored from Clearbrook, Kenneth Young and Campenelli YMCA. One of each of these young people threw out the first pitch. It was an exciting evening for the participants and a rewarding evening for our club.
